The Presales Solution Architect

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Presales Solution Architect to join our team at AveriSource. In this senior role, you will collaborate across the organization to design, implement, and deliver cutting-edge modernization solutions tailored to meet the needs of our global enterprise customers. You will play a key role in creating advanced cloud-based solutions that migrate and transform legacy workloads for a wide range of market verticals. As a subject matter expert in legacy application modernization, you will guide customers in planning, evaluating, architecting, and re-engineering applications that maximize the full potential of cloud technologies. This is a high-impact opportunity to work on highly strategic and innovative enterprise projects at the forefront of cloud adoption, requiring close collaboration with internal development and modernization teams and external System Integrator partners, to ensure success.

Job Requirements

  • Extensive knowledge of mainframe, midrange, and legacy modernization technologies, techniques, tools, and approaches
  • Experience designing cloud platform architectures that support or exceed the requirements of workloads migrating from mainframe, midrange and legacy systems to AWS, Azure or Google Cloud environments
  • Expertise in helping customers architect scalable, highly available enterprise application solutions utilizingCloud platform services
  • Proficiency in architecting, developing, and modernizing customer applications/systems for future maintenance, increased optimization and high efficiency
  • Ability to work as a technical leader alongside customer lines of business, engineering, and application infrastructure teams
  • Strong background in advising and implementing best practices for large scale modernization projects, targeting major Cloud platforms

Business Qualifications

  • Prior Experience: 10+ years of technology-related pre-sales, solution architecture or mainframe/midrange modernization experience
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or related field and (ideally) 6+ years of enterprise software  / technology-related sales or account management experience
  • Solution Expert: Deep understanding and knowledge of mainframe and midrange to cloud value-based selling, ability to create key areas of differentiation, and knowledge to develop industry-centric use cases for mainframe to cloud modernization
  • Executive Presence: Experience and expertise selling to CxOs, business executives, technical decision makers and enterprise solution architects by aligning and reinforcing the value of the solution to the customer’s overall business pain and/or strategic opportunities and decision criteria
  • Business Value Seller: Proven record of effective account management in partnership with sales teams, particularly demonstrating coupling business acumen with technology knowledge, to connect customer business challenges to their technology decisions and coaching the customer through business case creation, approval, and stakeholder buy-in
  • Technical Acumen: Experienced at driving solutions to full production roll out and project implementation with proven ability and desire to learn about new technologies
  • Social Seller: Builds a strong and active business network that stretches and influences far beyond themselves, including leveraging social selling tools such as LinkedIn Sales Navigator, Sales Intel and other social selling tools and platforms
  • Outcome Driven: Results-oriented and demonstrated ability to address complex technical concerns throughout the entire sales process

Technical Qualifications

  • 10-15+ years in mainframe modernization field with a minimum of 5+ years of hands-on technical experience with mainframe and midrange systems and with technologies such as COBOL, RPG, Adabas/Natural, JCL, CICS, IMS, DB2 for z/OS, Assembler, PL/I, Java, Rexx, flat/sequential files, GDGs, and VSAM
  • Experience with IBM middleware such as CICS, DB2, IMS DB, IMS DC and VSAM
  • Prior experience with leading mainframe or midrange application modernization initiatives working with global Systems Integrators
  • Experience with major mainframe migration and modernization tools, use cases and patterns in the industry(re-architecture, rewrite, refactor, rehost, etc.)
  • Knowledge of Cloud modernization strategies and patterns on hyperscale cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP, IBM, Oracle, OpenShift)
  • Experience with target application modernization programming languages (i.e., Java, C#, Python, Spring, Angular, React, Vue and others)
  • Experience in distributed client-server architecture systems
  • Some experience and exposure to GenAI technologies including Large Languages Models (LLMs), natural language processing (NLP) and AI-assistants for application modernization assessments, business requirements documentation generation or code transformation
